Position: Transthoracic Shoulder

The transthoracic shoulder projection demonstrates the proximal humerus through the thorax. It is used when the arm cannot be moved. Proper exposure is essential for penetrating the chest. This projection complements AP trauma shoulder. It is a recognized ARRT competency.
