Position: Lateral Ankle Trauma Horizontal Beam

The horizontal beam lateral ankle projection demonstrates the ankle in profile. It evaluates fractures and soft tissue swelling. Proper positioning prevents rotation. This projection complements AP trauma ankle. It is a core ARRT competency.
