Position: Lateral Knee

The lateral knee projection demonstrates the patella, joint space, and soft tissues. The knee is flexed 20 to 30 degrees. This projection evaluates effusion and fractures. Proper positioning prevents rotation. It is frequently tested on ARRT exams.
