Position: Skull SMV
The submentovertex projection demonstrates the base of the skull, zygomatic arches, and sphenoid sinuses. The neck is hyperextended to place the vertex against the detector. This projection evaluates fractures and cranial base pathology. Proper positioning is challenging but essential. It is a recognized ARRT special projection.
