Shoulder Scapular Y Lateral

Position: Shoulder Scapular Y Lateral

The scapular Y projection evaluates shoulder dislocations and fractures. The patient is rotated 45 to 60 degrees to superimpose the scapula into a Y configuration. The humeral head should lie over the glenoid unless dislocated. This projection is essential in trauma imaging. It is heavily emphasized on ARRT exams.
